My son needed a car to get to my other's son's college graduation. He rented a car through AAA/ Hertz. He was dropped off at Hertz this Saturday, walking in with dress clothes, etc. Allegedly they only had two premium cars available, although his PRE-PAID reservation was for an economy car. Hertz policy with their alliance with AAA is as follows:

temporary help messed up the contract, I was charged again for the amount of money I already paid. Got another hold on- told me something about they usually don't accept debit. Super unfriendly stuff- just 2 people there anyway?? everyone had to wait at least 20 min. Insurance suggested from this website didn't fit to the one from hertz. Means I had to pay for another insurance about 200 bucks??? In the end we needed to make a whole new contract - 550$ again!!! Seriously??? And in the end we got some bog-standard Nissan. Not at all what I booked online before! The car also had 3 rockfalls in the windshield...

They insisted that there was no other car available and he informed them of the AAA policy. Upon receiving his paperwork, they up-charged him ridiculously for this car, which I believe was a classic case of BAIT and SWITCH, seeing that he had gotten dropped off, and obviously had some place he needed to be. Shady shady shady. This will be taken up with the credit card company, Better Business Bureau as well as AAA, but I wanted to write a review of their shady actions in charging the credit card about three times more than they were supposed to. It is a shame, too, as between him and I, we have rented from this particular Hertz location several times previously.
